Ethics in publishing

Duties of the Publisher

The publisher ensures that all publishing processes are conducted ethically, transparently, and without bias. It supports editorial independence, maintains the integrity of the academic record, and takes appropriate action in cases of misconduct.

Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for making fair and unbiased decisions based on the manuscript’s academic merit. They must maintain confidentiality, avoid conflicts of interest, and ensure a rigorous peer-review process.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers contribute to the quality of the publication by providing objective, constructive, and timely feedback. They must keep all information confidential and declare any potential conflicts of interest.

Duties of Authors

Authors must present original work, ensure accuracy of data, and properly cite all sources. They should avoid plagiarism, disclose conflicts of interest, and take responsibility for the content of their manuscript.

Submission Declaration and Authorship

Submission Declaration

By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan Sandi Husada (JIKSH), authors confirm that the work is original and has not been previously published, except in the form of a preprint, abstract, academic thesis, or lecture. The manuscript is not under consideration by any other journal. All authors have approved the submission and agree with its content. Where applicable, the research has received approval from the relevant institutions or authorities. If the manuscript is accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in any language, without written permission from the copyright holder. The journal reserves the right to screen submitted manuscripts using appropriate tools to ensure compliance with publication ethics and policies.

Authorship

All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the study, including involvement in the study design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation. Authors must also participate in drafting or critically revising the manuscript and approve the final version before submission. One author should be designated as the corresponding author, responsible for communication with the journal throughout the editorial process. All authors agree to be accountable for the accuracy and integrity of the work and to address any issues that may arise.

Changes to Authorship

Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan Sandi Husada (JIKSH) emphasizes that authorship must be determined carefully before manuscript submission. Authors are required to submit a final and agreed list of authors, including the correct order and affiliations, at the time of submission. Changes to authorship, including the addition, removal, or rearrangement of author names, are only permitted before the manuscript is accepted and must receive approval from the editor. Such requests must be submitted by the corresponding author, clearly stating the reason for the change and accompanied by written agreement from all listed authors, including those being added or removed. Requests that do not follow these procedures will not be considered. The editorial process may be temporarily suspended while authorship change requests are under review. JIKSH does not allow any changes to authorship after a manuscript has been accepted. This includes any modification to the list of authors or the designation of the corresponding author. Any unauthorized changes to authorship, or requests submitted without proper documentation and editorial approval, may result in rejection of the manuscript or retraction if the article has already been published. In cases where authorship changes are approved prior to publication, appropriate corrections will be documented in accordance with journal policy.

Declaration of Competing Interests

All authors submitting to Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan Sandi Husada (JIKSH) are required to disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence, or be perceived to influence, the results or interpretation of their work. Such relationships may include, but are not limited to, employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, patents, research funding, or institutional affiliations. Authors must complete a declaration of competing interests at the time of submission. If no competing interests exist, authors should clearly state that they have nothing to declare. Authors who have an affiliation with the journal, such as serving as an editor or advisory board member, must disclose this role and confirm that they had no involvement in the peer-review process of the manuscript. In such cases, the editorial responsibility will be assigned to an independent editor to ensure objectivity. All declarations must be submitted as a separate document during the submission process. Failure to provide an accurate and complete disclosure may result in delays, rejection, or other editorial actions in accordance with journal policies.

Funding Statement

Authors must disclose all sources of funding that supported the research and/or preparation of the manuscript. The role of each funder, if any, should be clearly stated, including involvement in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript writing, and the decision to submit the article for publication. If the funders had no such involvement, this should be explicitly declared. Funding information should be presented in a clear and standardized format, including the name of the funding organization and relevant grant numbers where applicable. Detailed descriptions of funding programs are not required. For institutional or block funding, authors should indicate the name of the supporting institution. If the study did not receive specific funding, authors are encouraged to state that no external funding was received.

Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Manuscript Preparation Process

The authors declare that generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies may be used in a limited capacity to support the manuscript preparation process, such as for language refinement, content organization, and improving clarity of presentation. The use of such tools is strictly limited to supportive functions and does not replace the authors’ critical thinking, scientific judgment, or intellectual contribution. All outputs generated by AI tools have been carefully reviewed, verified, and edited by the authors to ensure accuracy, validity, and alignment with the study objectives.

The authors take full responsibility for the integrity, originality, and scientific quality of the manuscript, including the accuracy of all data, references, and interpretations presented. No AI tools are listed as authors or co-authors, as authorship is reserved exclusively for individuals who meet the established criteria for scholarly contribution. The use of AI tools in this manuscript complies with ethical standards, including the protection of data privacy, intellectual property rights, and transparency in reporting.

Statement:
During the preparation of this work, the authors used ChatGPT (OpenAI) to assist in language editing and structuring the manuscript. The authors reviewed and edited all generated content and take full responsibility for the final version of the manuscript.

Statement:

The authors declare that no generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in the preparation of this manuscript.

Preprints Policy

Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan Sandi Husada (JIKSH) permits authors to share preprints of their manuscripts, including posting on recognized preprint servers, in accordance with responsible publication practices. Such sharing will not be considered prior publication. Authors are expected to ensure that preprint sharing does not conflict with ethical standards, including policies on multiple, redundant, or concurrent publication.

Use of Inclusive Language

Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan Sandi Husada (JIKSH) requires authors to use inclusive, respectful, and non-discriminatory language throughout their manuscripts. Writing should acknowledge diversity and avoid any implication that an individual or group is superior based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, disability, or health condition. Authors are encouraged to use gender-neutral expressions and plural forms where appropriate (e.g., “patients,” “clinicians”) and to avoid unnecessary references to personal attributes unless they are directly relevant to the research. Manuscripts should be free from bias, stereotypes, slang, and cultural assumptions, and should not presume the beliefs or perspectives of readers. These guidelines serve as a general reference to support clear, fair, and respectful scientific communication.

Reporting Sex- and Gender-Based Analyses

Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan Sandi Husada (JIKSH) encourages authors to consider sex and gender dimensions in research design, analysis, and reporting when studies involve humans, animals, or eukaryotic cells. Where relevant, authors should clearly describe how sex and/or gender are addressed in the study, or acknowledge their absence as a limitation to the generalizability of findings. Authors are required to define the terms “sex” and “gender” as used in their research to ensure clarity, accuracy, and reproducibility. In general, sex refers to biological attributes such as chromosomes, hormones, and anatomy, while gender refers to socially constructed roles, behaviors, and identities that may vary across contexts and time.

The use of sex and gender should be applied consistently and appropriately throughout the manuscript. Authors are encouraged to follow recognized best practices, such as the SAGER guidelines, to strengthen methodological rigor and transparency. Where sex and/or gender are not directly relevant to the study, authors are not required to include such analyses. However, when relevant, clear explanation and appropriate use are expected to support scientific integrity and clarity.

Jurisdictional Claims and Institutional Affiliation Policy

Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan Sandi Husada (JIKSH) respects the decisions of authors in designating territories and identifying institutional affiliations in their published work. The journal maintains a neutral position with regard to jurisdictional claims, territorial disputes, and institutional representations.

Maps

Maps included in manuscripts must: Clearly represent only the specific study area relevant to the research. Be designed so that readers can easily identify and locate the study area using commonly available mapping platforms. Avoid displaying regions beyond the necessary geographic scope (i.e., not exceeding the bounding box of the study area). Authors are required to include the following statement when maps are used: "Map lines delineate study areas and do not necessarily depict accepted national boundaries." During the peer-review and editorial process, editors may request revisions to maps that do not comply with these guidelines.

Institutional Affiliations

Authors must provide clear and verifiable institutional affiliations by: Using the full official name of the institution, or Using a widely recognized standard abbreviation of the institution. This ensures transparency, accuracy, and supports research integrity verification. JIKSH emphasizes that all affiliations must reflect the true institutional association of each author at the time the research was conducted.

Delayed Publication Policy

Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan Sandi Husada (JIKSH) allows authors to request a delay in the publication of their accepted articles under specific circumstances. Authors who wish to delay publication must notify the editorial office as early as possible, clearly stating the reason for the requested delay and the preferred publication timeframe. While the editorial team will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests, JIKSH cannot guarantee that publication will be postponed to a specific date, particularly if the request is submitted at a late stage of the publication process. Authors should note that once the agreed delay period has ended, the article may be scheduled for publication at any time thereafter without further notice. JIKSH encourages timely communication to ensure proper coordination between authors and the editorial team.
