Guidance for Authors — JUNEDIK
Jurnal Edukasi Ilmiah Kesehatan (JUNEDIK) considers manuscripts that provide original and scientifically meaningful contributions to nursing, midwifery, and related health professions within the journal's scope.
Manuscripts must demonstrate scientific merit, appropriate methodology, ethical compliance, and clear reporting. Submissions must not have been published previously or be under consideration by another journal.
1. Original Articles
Original Articles report findings from empirical research, including quantitative, qualitative, experimental, observational, and mixed-methods studies relevant to the journal's scope.
- Word limit: A maximum of 7,000 words, including author names and affiliations, corresponding author information, acknowledgments, and figure legends, as specified in the Author Guidelines.
- Abstract: A maximum of 250 words.
- Tables and figures: A maximum of five tables and/or figures in total.
- References: References should primarily come from international journals indexed in Scopus or Web of Science.
Manuscript Organization
Organize the manuscript according to the journal template, with the following core sections:
- Title and author information
- Abstract and keywords
- Introduction
- Methods
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgments and relevant declarations
- References
Methods and Results
Describe the study design, setting, participants or data sources, eligibility criteria, sampling, sample-size justification, instruments, data collection, analysis, and ethical procedures as applicable. Provide sufficient detail for readers to assess the study's methods and findings.
Present results clearly using appropriate tables, figures, and analytical summaries. Interpret the findings in relation to existing evidence and acknowledge study limitations. Conclusions should remain consistent with the study design and reported results.
2. Systematic Reviews
Systematic Reviews critically assess evidence on a clearly defined topic relevant to nursing and the journal's scope. Authors must describe how evidence was identified, selected, evaluated, and synthesized.
- Word limit: A maximum of 7,000 words, including acknowledgments.
- Abstract: A structured abstract is required.
- Tables and figures: Up to four tables and/or figures in total.
- Search methods: Identify the information sources and explain the search strategy.
- Eligibility: State predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria.
- Study selection: Describe the selection process and provide a study-selection flow diagram.
- Evidence synthesis: Describe the included populations, exposures or interventions, outcomes, appraisal methods, and synthesis approach.
3. Meta-analyses
Meta-analyses follow the requirements for Systematic Reviews and provide an appropriate statistical synthesis of predefined outcomes.
- Report pooled estimates and their uncertainty.
- Explain the statistical model and its justification.
- Assess study heterogeneity and methodological quality.
- Evaluate potential publication bias when appropriate.
- Describe subgroup analyses and meta-regression when applicable.
- Follow the relevant PRISMA reporting guidance and include an appropriate study-selection flow diagram.
4. Submission Preparation
- Prepare the manuscript in Microsoft Word format and include figures, illustrations, and pictures in the manuscript file.
- Write in clear English. British or American English may be used consistently.
- Use a reference manager; Mendeley is recommended.
- Include a complete title page following the journal template.
- Provide the ethics approval number and the name of the approving institution for research requiring ethical approval.
- Provide a similarity-check report with a similarity index below 20%, as required by the Author Guidelines.
- Format the manuscript according to the JUNEDIK template.
Manuscripts that do not meet the submission requirements may be declined at initial screening. Authors may correct the identified issues and resubmit for consideration.
5. Reporting Guidelines
Use the reporting guideline appropriate to the study design:
- STROBE: Observational cohort, case-control, and cross-sectional studies.
- COREQ: Qualitative studies using interviews or focus groups.
- TREND: Non-randomized evaluations where applicable.
- CONSORT: Randomized controlled trials.
- STARD: Diagnostic-accuracy studies.
- PRISMA: Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses.
6. Research Ethics and Publication Integrity
Authors must comply with applicable research ethics and publication standards. For studies requiring ethical review, identify the approving ethics committee and approval number, and explain informed-consent procedures where applicable.
Protect participant confidentiality. Identifiable patient information or images require appropriate written consent for publication. Disclose funding, competing interests, and relevant relationships that may influence interpretation of the research.
Authors must transparently disclose the use of generative artificial intelligence in manuscript preparation, including the nature and extent of its use, in accordance with the journal's requirements.
7. Editorial Assessment and Peer Review
Submissions undergo administrative screening and an initial editorial assessment for scope, manuscript preparation, language, and scientific suitability. Manuscripts selected for peer review are evaluated by at least two reviewers through a double-blind review process.
Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript's scientific merit, reviewers' recommendations, and the authors' responses to requested revisions. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.
