Digital Preservation Policy

JAKESPOL: Journal of Health Policy Analysis is committed to ensuring the long-term accessibility, integrity, and preservation of its published digital content. The journal implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to safeguard scholarly materials against data loss, system failure, or discontinuation, particularly to support sustained access to health policy evidence.

Digital Preservation Strategy

JAKESPOL applies a multi-layered digital preservation approach, including the following components:

Website and Server Archiving

All electronic content, including published articles, supplementary files, and journal metadata, is hosted on a primary server supported by routine backup systems. Regular backups are maintained to minimize the risk of data loss and to ensure rapid restoration in case of technical disruption.

Indexing and Abstracting Services

The journal is indexed in relevant abstracting and indexing databases that preserve bibliographic metadata and enhance discoverability. These platforms serve as additional access points and contribute to the long-term visibility and traceability of published research.

Self-Archiving and Repository Deposit

Authors are permitted to deposit the final published version of their articles in personal websites, institutional repositories, and recognized non-commercial repositories immediately upon publication, in accordance with the journal’s open access and copyright policies.

Distributed Digital Archiving Systems

Where applicable, JAKESPOL supports preservation through distributed archiving systems such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), ensuring redundancy and long-term content availability.

Long-Term Preservation and Continuity

In the event that the journal ceases publication, JAKESPOL will make reasonable efforts to ensure continued access to all published content for a minimum period of ten (10) years. Preservation mechanisms will be activated to maintain the integrity and accessibility of the scholarly record.

Through these measures, JAKESPOL is dedicated to preserving the continuity, reliability, and long-term accessibility of scholarly outputs, supporting sustainable knowledge dissemination and evidence-informed health policy development.
