The role of the family in improving the management of diabetes mellitus patients is very important to achieve good blood sugar control and prevent long-term complications. This study aims at the role of family in improving the management of diabetes mellitus patients.

Methods: this research is a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental research design with a non-equivalent control group research design with a sample size of 20 respondents

Results: shows that in the intervention group, most family roles have a good category where respondents have family roles are as many as 7 people (70%) and respondents who have poor family roles are as many as 3 people (30%). While in the control group, respondents who had poor family roles were as many as 8 people (80%) and respondents who had good family roles were as many as 2 people (20%). In the final measurement (Post-test) in the intervention group and the control group, p = 0, 028 or p < 0.05 means that there are differences in family roles in both groups in the final measurement (Post-test)

Conclusions: the role of the family is very important in improving the management of diabetes mellitus patients. Family support and involvement in assisting patients in living a healthy diet, following the right medication regimen, and maintaining an active lifestyle can help achieve good blood sugar control and prevent long-term complications. Factors such as knowledge of diabetes, emotional support, and ability to manage diabetes-related situations also influence the family's role in the management of this condition. Therefore, education to families about diabetes, the psychological and practical support they provide to patients, as well as their involvement in healthy lifestyle changes are important things to note.
2024-08-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Edukasi Ilmiah Kesehatan http://jurnal.edi.or.id/index.php/Junedik/article/view/44 Effectiveness of relaxation techniques, touch distractions in lowering pain scales 2024-06-13T13:55:05+00:00 Yefta Primasari yeftaprimasari93@gmail.com Mery Kana merykana123@gmail.com
Introduction: Pain is one of the most common symptoms experienced by patients with various medical conditions. Effective pain management is essential to improve a patient's quality of life. Relaxation and touch techniques are nonpharmacological methods that can reduce Pain. This study evaluated the effectiveness of relaxation and touch techniques in lowering pain scales.

Methods: This study used an experimental design with pre-test and post-test approaches. Patients with chronic pain were divided into two groups: an intervention group that received relaxation and touch techniques and a control group that did not receive an intervention. Relaxation techniques used include deep breathing, meditation, and progressive muscle relaxation. The touch techniques used are massage and therapeutic touch. The pain scale was measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after the intervention.

Results: The management of relaxation techniques and touch distraction patients on the first- and second-days experienced changes in pain scales, but the Pain was not resolved. On the third day, the Pain was also not resolved if hyperlipidemia pressure increased, while the first day and day two experienced changes in pain scale but were not resolved, and on the third day, the Pain could be resolved with a pain scale of 0.

Conclusions: Relaxation and touch techniques effectively lower pain scales in patients with chronic Pain. This method can be part of comprehensive pain management to improve a patient's quality of life. Both techniques can be used as additional methods in pain management to improve a patient's quality of life. Further studies with larger samples and extended intervention periods are needed to confirm these findings. Relaxation and touch techniques can be integrated into clinical practice as part of a multimodal approach to pain management. Education and training for health workers on the use of these techniques can improve patient acceptance and adherence.
2024-08-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Edukasi Ilmiah Kesehatan http://jurnal.edi.or.id/index.php/Junedik/article/view/45 Impact of home care counseling on the quality of life of people with diabetes militus 2024-06-13T14:03:58+00:00 A Syamsinar Asmi sinarty@yahoo.co.id M. When there is excess uric acid in the bloodstream and more than can be excreted, the uric acid seeps into the joint tissue, causing pain and swelling. Pain is the most frequent symptom of Gout. The triggering factor that can cause gout is excessive consumption of foods that contain purines. One of the signs and symptoms that people with gout arthritis can feel is pain in the joints, such as in the big toe, wrist joint, foot joint, knee joint, and elbow joint. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of warm water compresses to reduce gout pain.

Methods: A qualitative study with a case study approach focused on the effectiveness of warm compresses to reduce gout pain was conducted in 2 patients.

Results showed a decreased pain scale after being given warm water compress therapy in patients with gout or gout arthritis. When the results were obtained before the warm water compress therapy, Respondent One experienced a pain scale of 6 and Respondent 2 had a pain scale of 5 after being given warm water compress therapy; the pain scale felt by Respondent 1 was on the pain scale four and respondent two on the pain scale 3.

Conclusions: Providing warm water compress therapy to respondents with gout pain or Gout Arthritis reduces the pain scale because warm water compresses are performed. It is hoped that it will be a source of information for the community in dealing with gout pain. In addition, it can also increase the community's insight into maintaining lifestyles, such as diet and the environment, to maintain body health and develop knowledge and skills in providing good nursing care, especially in homecare activities.
2024-08-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Edukasi Ilmiah Kesehatan http://jurnal.edi.or.id/index.php/Junedik/article/view/47 Emotional, mental disorders and depression in adolescents 2024-07-23T04:12:22+00:00 Azzah Khoridah Maulidiya wibowo869@yahoo.co.id Amir Su'udi wibowo869@yahoo.co.id Wibowo Wibowo wibowo869@yahoo.co.id
Introduction: Adolescence is an essential period in an individual's development characterized by significant physical, emotional, and social changes. Mental, emotional, and depressive disorders are common mental health problems in adolescents and can have a severe impact on their quality of life. Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) is a relaxation technique that addresses stress and sleep quality issues. The research aimed to determine the effect of PMR on stress levels and sleep quality in diabetes mellitus sufferers.

Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre and post-test design. Sampling was done using purposive sampling with a total of 33 samples. Research variables were measured using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 25 with a paired sample t-test.

Results: The majority of samples were elderly (51%) with a female gender predominance (75%) and a duration of diabetes of >5 years (54.5%). Stress was more prevalent among the elderly (23.5%), males (25%), and those with a duration of diabetes <5 years (13.3%). Poor sleep quality was predominantly experienced by late adults (87.5%), males (87.5%), and those suffering for >5 years (83.3%). Samples tended to have moderate to severe stress levels (63.6%) and poor sleep quality (81.8%). After the implementation of PMR, there was a decrease in the mean stress level (3.70) and sleep quality (2.97). The paired sample t-test shows a p-value <0.05, which means there are differences in stress levels and sleep quality in samples before and after PMR.

Conclusions: Progressive muscle relaxation significantly reduces stress levels and improves sleep quality in diabetes mellitus sufferers. Progressive muscle relaxation may be recommended as part of stress management and interventions to improve sleep quality in people with diabetes mellitus. This technique is easy to apply and can be done independently or in structured sessions. Integrating these techniques into diabetes treatment programs can provide additional benefits in managing stress and improving sleep quality, supporting better diabetes management.
2024-08-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Edukasi Ilmiah Kesehatan
